Pin This RecipeFrench dip sandwiches are simple perfection — thin-sliced roast beef piled on a crusty hoagie roll with melted provolone, dunked into a rich, beefy au jus.
The au jus is key — beef broth, Worcestershire, garlic, and thyme reduced to concentrated flavor.
Use deli roast beef or leftover pot roast.
Ingredients
- 1 lb thinly sliced deli roast beef
- 4 whole hoagie rolls, split
- 4 slices provolone cheese
- 2 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 2 cloves garlic, smashed
- 1 sprig fresh thyme
- 1 tbsp butter
Instructions
- 1
Simmer broth, Worcestershire, garlic, thyme, and butter for 10 minutes for the au jus.
- 2
Warm roast beef in the au jus for 1-2 minutes.
- 3
Pile beef onto split rolls. Top with provolone.
- 4
Broil 1-2 minutes until cheese melts.
- 5
Strain au jus into small bowls for dipping. Serve immediately.
