Creamy Burrata Caprese
Fresh burrata over ripe tomatoes with basil and aged balsamic
By RecipesQueen Kitchen • June 10, 2026
Burrata caprese elevates the classic tomato-mozzarella salad to something extraordinary. When you cut into the burrata, a river of cream and stracciatella flows out over sun-ripened tomatoes.
Use the ripest summer tomatoes you can find — this dish lives or dies by ingredient quality.
Finish with the best extra virgin olive oil you have and aged balsamic (the thick, syrupy kind).
Ingredients
- 2 balls fresh burrata (8 oz each)
- 4 large ripe heirloom tomatoes, sliced
- 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves
- 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
- 2 tbsp aged balsamic vinegar
- 1/2 tsp flaky sea salt
- 1/4 tsp freshly cracked black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Arrange tomato slices on a platter. Season with flaky salt.
- 2
Place burrata on top of the tomatoes.
- 3
Tear basil leaves and scatter over the platter.
- 4
Drizzle generously with olive oil and balsamic. Crack pepper over the top.
- 5
Serve immediately with crusty bread. Tear into the burrata at the table.
