4th of July food ideas are surging 400% monthly as party planning kicks into high gear. These BBQ bacon cheeseburger sliders are the ultimate cookout food — all the flavors of a loaded cheeseburger in a perfectly portioned, two-bite package that's built for standing around the grill with a cold drink.

Small patties get a quick sear on a hot grill, then each slider is stacked with sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, tangy pickles, and a drizzle of smoky BBQ sauce on soft Hawaiian rolls. They cook in 10 minutes and feed a crowd without anyone having to commit to a massive burger.

The secret to great sliders is seasoning the meat well and not overworking it. Keep the patties loose, season generously, and let the grill do the work.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20)
  • 12 small Hawaiian slider rolls
  • 12 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 12 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked crispy
  • 1/2 cup smoky BBQ sauce
  • 12 slices dill pickles
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp melted butter for rolls

Instructions

  1. 1

In a large bowl, gently mix ground beef with garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Do not overwork. Divide into 12 equal portions and shape into thin patties slightly wider than the slider rolls.

  2. 2

Preheat grill to high heat (or use a cast iron griddle). Grill patties for 2-3 minutes per side.

  3. 3

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar on each patty and close the grill lid to melt the cheese.

  4. 4

While patties cook, slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and brush cut sides with melted butter. Toast on the grill for 30 seconds until golden.

  5. 5

Assemble sliders: bottom bun, patty with cheese, crispy bacon, pickle slice, drizzle of BBQ sauce, top bun.

  6. 6

Secure each slider with a toothpick, arrange on a platter, and serve immediately.
