This hearty beef chili is thick, meaty, and deeply flavored with cumin, chili powder, and smoked paprika. A mix of kidney and black beans gives it heft.

The longer it simmers, the better it gets. Make it a day ahead and reheat for even more flavor.

Serve with cornbread, sour cream, shredded cheese, and diced onions.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large onion, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, drained
  • 3 tbsp chili powder
  • 2 tsp ground cumin
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • 1 tsp salt

Instructions

    Brown beef in a large pot. Drain excess fat.

    Add onion and garlic. Cook 5 minutes until soft.
