Mushroom Swiss Burgers
Juicy beef burgers topped with sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese
By RecipesQueen Kitchen • June 10, 2026
The mushroom Swiss burger is a steakhouse classic — a thick, juicy beef patty topped with a pile of garlic-butter sautéed mushrooms and melted Swiss cheese.
Don't press the patties on the grill — that squeezes out all the juicy flavor.
Make a thumb indent in the center of each patty to prevent it from puffing up during cooking.
Ingredients
- 1.5 lbs ground beef (80/20)
- 8 oz cremini mushrooms, sliced
- 4 slices Swiss cheese
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 whole brioche buns
- 1 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
Instructions
- 1
Sauté mushrooms in butter with garlic and salt until golden, about 8 minutes. Set aside.
- 2
Form beef into 4 patties. Make a thumb indent in the center. Season generously.
- 3
Grill or sear over high heat, 4 minutes per side for medium.
- 4
Add Swiss cheese in the last minute. Cover to melt.
- 5
Toast buns. Assemble with patties, mushrooms, and your favorite condiments.
